Flavio Coturni Head of the Unit “Agricultural Policy Analysis and Perspectives” Flavio is in the Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) in the European Commission. His main task is to coordinate the analysis and development of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).
He joined the European Commission in 1994 as desk officer in the cereals and rice market units. Between 2000 and 2007, he was analyst and trade negotiator in the WTO agriculture negotiations of the Doha Development Round (DDA). In 2007, he was appointed Head of the Unit “Agricultural Trade Policy Analysis” in DG AGRI. After leading the bilateral trade negotiations on agriculture with Canada in 2011, he led the unit “Direct support” in 2012-2013 when he was directly involved in the inter-institutional negotiations for the CAP reform on direct payments.
Mr Coturni is a graduate of Political Science and International Affairs from the University of Rome. He is married and has four children.
